We can say that so far all our topics have one thing in common. That is that architecture, many forms of art, amongst other things are mostly set on series and variations of the same thing. Reading about modernity and what it meant to be contemporary we notice that we need to have a clear sense of the past in order to fix the present and write the future, because history inevitably repeats itself. When talking about the way jazz players improv. during their songs it's clear that they need to have previous music theory and have listened/ been exposed to a lot of music in order to play something that'll go with the piece. This can be compared to how in the school we need to analyze precedents in order to gain guidance from them, this is present in every artform. When we talk about Kahn's houses and how they were meant to be a critique of what had been going on so far he needed to study those same buildings closely in order to create something different. In order to create art and architecture we need to take in the history of our art form and create our own series and variations from them.
